# Welcome to RM: Advanced Free Shipping

What RM: Advanced Free Shipping does, what it doesn't, and where to start.

RM: Advanced Free Shipping lets you create shipping discounts that Shopify's built-in discounts can't: free or reduced shipping based on what's in the cart, where it's going, and who's buying.

## What you can build

* **Free shipping over a threshold**, for example free shipping when the cart total is at least $100.
* **Shipping credits**, for example $25 off the cheapest rate on orders over $150.
* **Location offers** by country, province/state, postcode or Shopify Market.
* **Product and collection offers**, for example free shipping when a cart contains anything from your "Bulky items" collection.
* **Customer offers** for tagged customers (VIP, wholesale) or returning customers.
* **Flat-rate shipping**, for example shipping capped at $5 on orders over $50.

## How a rule works

Every shipping discount has two parts:

1. **Conditions**: when should the discount apply? For example, the cart total is at least $100 and the country is Australia.
2. **Delivery discounts**: which rates get discounted, and by how much? For example, the cheapest shipping rate is free.

## What it doesn't do

* **Local pickup** can't be discounted. You can discount shipping rates and local delivery.
* **In-store POS sales** don't use shipping discounts.
* **Shipping rates** aren't created, hidden or changed. The app discounts the rates Shopify already shows at checkout.
* **Discounts stop working if the app is uninstalled.** They're powered by the app, so uninstalling removes them.
